Update from Western Michigan Regional Center

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Workshops

Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) opioid initiative, this project focuses on training clinical providers on opioid treatment options to meet the needs of the growing number of substance use disorders in Michigan. The program provides training and guidance for MAT in real-world practice settings and addresses concerns for patient management, compliance, reimbursement, and care team development.

The first of three workshops was held at Baker College in Jackson on June 21, 2019, while also being simulcast to Wayne County Community College District in Detroit.  Two additional workshops are still available to attend:

  • Aug. 5 at Mercy Health Hackley Campus
  • Aug. 27 at Allegan General Hospital

Continuing medical education credits have been approved by the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. There is no cost to attend. Visit wmich.edu/hhs/continuing for information on the speakers, continuing education, and registration.
