Daniel Frattarelli, M.D., was appointed as president of Beaumont Medical Group, a group of 1,000 multispecialty physicians, employed by Beaumont Health. David Wood, M.D., Beaumont Health chief medical officer, made the announcement.

Dr. Frattarelli previously served as physician executive, Primary Care Network for Beaumont Medical Group, and chief, department of Pediatrics at Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn. He has also served as interim president, Oakwood Physicians.

Frattarelli was chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs, and co-authored guidelines and initiatives to make medication safer for children. He worked with Congress and the FDA, to strengthen pediatric medication research and labeling laws with the passage of the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act.

Frattarelli has a medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his pediatric residency, chief residency, and fellowship in pediatric clinical pharmacology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Before starting his medical career, Frattarelli served in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear power program.
