Wayne State University leadership had another Pivotal Moment to celebrate late last month: The School of Medicine hit a historic mark for fundraising results, officially surpassing the $190 million goal just two days before the Pivotal Moments Campaign concluded Sept 30. Publicly launched in 2014, the $750 million university-wide campaign was the most ambitious comprehensive fundraising effort in Wayne State’s 150-year history. Planning for the future while making a difference today, alumnus gives back to the School of Medicine

On a Friday afternoon, Jay Eastman M.D. '72, Res. '74, made the trip to the Wayne State University School of Medicine during the lunch hour to speak to a group of approximately 50 medical students about his lifelong passion: ambulatory pediatrics. An alumnus and practicing pediatrician, Dr. Eastman felt strongly that it was important to engage with students as they begin to take their first steps toward their careers. "I was pleased to see how many students were there at the Medical Specialty Luncheon interested in learning about the specialty," Dr. Eastman said. "It's really enjoyable to volunteer in this way, and I had fun watching people learn more about pediatrics." Read more.

The Medical Alumni Annual Fund Touches Hearts!

Thanks to the generous support of the Medical Alumni Annual Fund, student organizations are thriving and helping the community! One of those organizations is Healthy Hearts, which hosted events at two local schools - educating children about their hearts through fun and interactive exercises. Children got to dissect a sheep heart, listen to their heart through a stethoscope, and learn about CPR. Healthy Hearts also hosted two health fairs in the community. Make your gift today!
