The Medical Alumni Annual Fund is crucial to our students' medical education, academic success and overall professional growth.  Contributions made by the fiscal year-end Sept. 30 will provide funding for more than 80 student organizations, many of which supply medical treatment and counseling to those who would otherwise have none. Click here to donate.

Family, pride and compassion celebrated at School of Medicine White Coat Ceremony for incoming M.D. Class of 2022

On July 27, School of Medicine Dean and Distinguished Professor Jack D. Sobel, M.D., welcomed 289 new students while also recognizing family, friends and other supporters who assisted them along the journey to medical school, a journey that included applying to a medical school that received a record number of applications for the Class of 2022. “The white coat you receive today distinguishes you from the more than 9,000 applicants who wanted to be where you are today,” he said. “Your job is to ask questions. Never be afraid to ask questions and explore. Lifelong learning is essential in medicine. You need to seize and embrace this opportunity. We are here to learn, but we are also here to serve.” Read more.

Richard Stone, M.D. '77, was appointed as principal deputy under secretary for health in the Veterans Health Administration.  He will lead clinical policies and programs for the Veterans Health Administration, the nation's largest integrated health care system. Read more.

Natalia Tanner Cain, M.D.

Natalia Tanner Cain, M.D. died July 14. She was a former professor of Pediatrics for the WSU School of Medicine and the first African-American physician to join the staff at Children's Hospital of Michigan.  Read more.


Jean Sinkoff Goldstein, M.D. '65

Jean Sinkoff Goldstein, M.D. '65, died July 29. Dr. Sinkoff served as class agent for the Class of 1965 and president of the Medical Alumni Association from 1992 to1993. Read more.
