Detroit celebrates 'RoboCop Day' ahead of DVD release

DETROIT, MI -- A series of events centered around RoboCop, a part-human, part-cyborg character from the crime-riddled-Detroit-based 1987 dystopian science fiction film of the same name, are scheduled for Detroit on Tuesday.

RoboCop Day kicks off at the Detroit Public Safety Headquarters, 1301 Third in Detroit; and concludes at 7 p.m. when RoboCop throws out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game in Comerica Park.

The 'RoboCop' DVD and Blu-ray release is also set for Tuesday.

Fans are able to take photos with RoboCop and peruse props from the actual movie set between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
