Wayne State University

Dear members of the campus community,

As you are fully aware, representatives from the Higher Learning Commission, the federally recognized accrediting agency responsible for reviewing and evaluating all Michigan universities, will be visiting campus today and tomorrow as part of their formal evaluation of Wayne State University.

Since its introduction, we’ve asked each of you to understand our strategic plan and know the mission: to create and advance knowledge, prepare a diverse student body to thrive, and positively impact local and global communities. During their visit, HLC representatives may stop to ask you about these and other aspects of your experience at WSU.

Our mission and strategic plan outline the work we do every day. I’m proud to see that many of you have taken time to consider the role you play in living our mission and strategic plan, gaining a deeper understanding of the vision we’re working toward and the progress we have made. Your commitment will surely help us achieve a successful evaluation.

Accreditation has a direct and immediate impact on all of us, and its importance cannot be understated. While of particular importance to students and faculty, accreditation also sends a broader message to those outside the university that we provide a quality education in a manner that is consistent, transparent and financially sustainable.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the accreditation process, visit hlc.wayne.edu. Thank you for doing your part to support this university and ensure its continued success.

Sincerely,

M. Roy Wilson
