Ilitch School continues to build momentum

As we approach the end of the winter semester, we're reflecting on all the ways the Mike Ilitch School of Business prepares our students both in the classroom and through innovative ways to connect with the broader Detroit business community.

In this edition of our newsletter, you'll read about our second annual Elevator Pitch Competition at the GM Renaissance Center, which placed our students in the city's most iconic and tallest elevator with Detroit executives to test their pitch skills. We also launched the 25 Under 25 awards program and recognized our top students at a special reception with local hiring managers at the Detroit Historical Museum. I personally know of several students who received internship offers as a direct result of these events.

We also had the opportunity to host a Committee of 200 M.B.A. Reachout, an event that celebrated and inspired women in business leadership at all points in their careers, and saw three of our M.B.A. students walk away with $10,000 scholarships.

The momentum from programs like these will exponentially grow when we move to the District Detroit in 2018. Our new building is taking shape, with the initial steel structure now being erected at the construction site on the corner of Woodward Avenue and Temple Street. You can watch our building's progress in real time by tuning into the live webcams that are now streaming video of the construction.

Our school's new location will further open up partnerships in the heart of the city's business district. There's no doubt that in the course of their daily routine, our students will rub elbows with executives and entrepreneurs, putting their networking skills to the test in the real world. From our new home, they will literally be able to walk to internships at a wealth of companies, from young startups to Fortune 500 companies.

I look forward to working with our students, faculty, alumni and friends to continue to build on our recent success.

Sincerely,

Robert Forsythe
