Football student athlete receives WSU Athletics School of Business Dean's Award

Each year, the Wayne State University Athletics Department honors students who excel in the classroom as well on the field of play. These outstanding student athletes were honored on April 23 at the 15th annual Athletics Academic Recognition Luncheon.

During the luncheon, seven student athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average in each school received special recognition. This year’s recipient of the School of Business Dean’s Award was Ben Walker.

Walker, who graduated in December with a degree in management, was an offensive tackle for the WSU football team. During his time at WSU, the Lake Orion High School product consistently put his grades first, being named to the WSU Athletic Director's Honor Roll for six semesters and the WSU Coach's Honor Roll for two additional semesters.

Walker also served as a team captain, was named to multiple GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Teams and was inducted into the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society.

Congratulations, Ben, and thank you for showing all Warriors how to "Aim Higher".
