Luce County Holds Speed Dating Health Professions Program

On April 4, Upper Peninsula AHEC held the 3rd annual "Luce County Speed Dating: Health Professions Style" program in Newberry, Michigan.  Approximately 160 high school students grades 9-12 attended the program and learned about various health professions and their role in primary healthcare in the community.  Over 10 different health professionals met with students to discuss their own experiences going into a health profession, as well as the different professional opportunities, salary ranges and job outlook.  Students received a pre- and post-survey for the event.  Surveys from past events have indicated a significant gain in knowledge and understanding of the health professions and primary care, as well as a greater interest of students post-event who were interested in entering a health professional career.
